Book 1 supports learning and attainment to reach the expected standard for pupils who are less confident with mathematics
Each .of the 15 sections begins with arithmetic practise to build confidence as a preparation for achieving a high score on the arithmetic paper. To support strengthening of reasoning skills, each section has a number problem followed by two further reasoning challenges covering all strands. For the first of these two problems, pupils are supported and encouraged with a 'helpful hint'. The section is completed with two extra arithmetic challenges.
